Setting up continuous tracking of AI visibility metrics.

Continuous monitoring
AI visibility is not a one-time optimization. AI platforms update their retrieval methods, competitors shift strategies and user queries evolve. Continuous monitoring tracks these changes.
Step 1: Establish baseline
Run your complete query set across all platforms. Record current Share of Recommendation, Citation Share and Top3 rates. This is your baseline.
Step 2: Set monitoring cadence
Run queries monthly for stable metrics. Run weekly during active optimization campaigns. Track both absolute values and competitive changes.
Step 3: Automate where possible
Use scripts and APIs to automate query execution where available. Manual testing remains necessary for platforms without API access, but automation reduces operational burden.
Step 4: Reporting and alerting
Create dashboards showing Share of Recommendation trends, competitor movements and platform-specific performance. Set alerts for significant changes — positive or negative.
Step 5: Action triggers
Define thresholds that trigger action: drops below X% SoR, competitor gains, new platform entry. Monitoring without action triggers is just data collection.
